TEXAS SHOOTING SPORTS COMPLEX

News and Notices

Well Folks – Good News!!!

·        We had a great group of folks priming the pump Tuesday this morning with Richard Parrish, extension agent, speaking about 4-H shooting sports, our Herman, Leighton, Gary, Art, and Lisa.

o   After lunch we opened with our annual report, followed by Mark reviewing properties and revealing our selection; which is a 500 plus acre tract with river frontage east of San Marcos.  We propose that the county develop the 200 acre river park and lease the remainder to the non-profit shooting sports complex.

o   Steve Hall, with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, then spoke to the department’s needs for local shooting sports complex to fulfill there programs and training needs and of and the level of commitment they were prepared follow through on if the county would commit to purchase the property.

o   As JB closed, he was followed by very assuring public words from each of the court members.

o   Pretty good details in the article and some amusing, but informative comments following.

We know that many of you sent emails to the commissioners and the judge as we were copied.  Thanks!  Every voice counts and this is community.

·        Three minutes of fame? Consider using the public comment time allotted prior to each court.

  • Please continue to contact the commissioners and the judge and encourage them to vote for purchasing land for the Shooting Sports Complex.
