Brief overview of TXSSC Roles and responsibilities.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors shall consist of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and ??? Directors. The shooting disciplines: Shotgun, Rifle, Handgun and Archery will be represented on the Board
(a) Each member of the Board of Directors shall be entitled to one vote at all meetings of the Board, the Annual State Meeting and any special meetings. Vote by proxy shall be according to the provisions of the bylaws.
(b) The Board of Directors shall have general charge of the affairs of the TXSSC and may properly assume such other duties as are not specially assigned to or performed by any managers or committees as may in their judgment be necessary.
(c) The Board of Directors shall have the authority to conduct investigations or hearings relative to any complaint against any shooter who, or any club, which, in the opinion of the Board is guilty of un-sportsmanlike conduct, or any prejudicial acts that are detrimental to the best interest of the TXSSC and to take such action, as the Board deems appropriate.
(d) The Board of Directors shall have full charge of all matters covered in the Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws, including special meetings, and any and all other business that is reasonably presumed to fall within the powers or duties of the Board.
Executive Director
The Executive Director is responsible and accountable for the overall management of TXSSC, and reports directly to the Board of Directors to further the mission, programs, and activities of TXSSC and it’s related entities.
Duties: Guide and support the work of TXSSC managers and the shooting sports committee team leads. Attract, develop, and retain highly qualified members, instructors and develop a productive, self-motivated, and positive work environment. Work to inspire and maintain the confidence of the, Board of Directors, instructors and membership of TXSSC. Maintain all communications backbone to include telecommunications and networking.
Responsible for the overall supervision of the TXSSC. Supervise and facilitate the development and implementation of strategic long-range plans, initiatives for improvement and better public understanding of the shooting sports complex. Responsible, in coordination with appropriate TXSSC committees and officers, for preparing budgets to be approved by the TXSSC Board of Directors, for providing comprehensive accounting and reporting for all TXSSC spending; and for overseeing membership recruitment and development. Responsible for developing multi-year long range plans as the basis for strategic decisions as well as long term budget needs. Seek out and pursue fundraising opportunities, including grants and non-dues sources of income, in order to ensure the long term continued financial security of TXSSC and its entities. Establish and maintain contact with current and potential donors, foundations, and governmental agencies. Work to establish TXSSC as the nation’s leading and most authoritative voice in matters relating to the Shooting sports disciplines, and the improvement through partnerships, conferences, educational opportunities, and publications. Work with the Board of Directors to effectively communicate the mission of TXSSC to other Shooting sports organizations, civic organizations, educational institutions, state and federal law enforcement systems and legislative bodies, and the public.
Fundraising Committee
The Fundraising Committee is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing all fundraising activities in support of the TXSSC.
Responsible for developing a strategy for fundraising for the TXSSC.
Identify and maintain a list of potential sponsors/donors.
Annually solicit sponsors for specific events or activities, (e.g., annual shooting events, corporate sponsorship for mailing and/or printing of
TXSSC publications. Handle or oversee all interaction with donors/sponsors: obtaining funds or in-kind services, depositing checks with the
Treasurer, thanking donors/sponsors in writing, and acknowledging (or assuring that the Board acknowledges) the donor/sponsors in all
proper venues:
Budget and Finance Committee
The Budget and Finance Committee's area of responsibility includes Annual Budget Review, Capital Improvement Programs, Financial Reports, Taxes, Fees, Assessments, and Independent Budget Analyst Reports.
Nominating Committee
It is the responsibility of the committee to secure candidates for the ballot and present a slate of qualified, acceptable candidates to the board for approval and to the membership for a vote.
The committee members shall consider the specific discussions related to potential nominees to be confidential. Committee members are prohibited from disclosing potential and final nominees to the membership.
The committee will conduct its business via meetings, conference calls, email, mail or fax as deemed necessary by the committee chair.
Advisory Committee
A group of volunteers that meets regularly on a long-term basis to provide advice and/or support to TXSSC. By opening a window of exchange with members of the broader community, advisory committees can help TXSSC with a host of important functions: strengthening our programs, improving management, reviewing and evaluating our mission, programs, and services, recruiting personnel, raising funds, promoting public relations, and improving relationships with other organizations.
Business Operations Manager
Conduct day-to-day administration and operational tasks under the direction of the Executive Director. This responsibility will include (but is not limited to) administrative tasks, recruitment of new members, renewals, manage operation of the range office which includes collection of range fees, onsite submittal of membership fees and sales of merchandise; make daily reconciliation of receipts and revenues at the end of each business day; develop and maintain positive relationships with customers and Law Enforcement Agencies for contractual use of range facilities; and ensure all managers are informed about that routine and preventative maintenance is performed on all fixed facilities, equipment and grounds under their responsibility.
Education/Training Manager
Responsible for scheduling/ and reserving all classroom training, also responsible for ensuring the events calendar is updated to include all training and shooting events are correctly posted. This will require long range planning on state and national events, this position will work with all shooting discipline leads to schedule training and range times. They will also ensure that all classes for Hunters Safety training, Concealed Handgun License training and NRA training is scheduled and proper range times reflected. Also responsible to ensure classroom setup is provided and materials are available.
Chief Range Safety Officers
Chief Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. Responsible for ensure all ranges have adequate range safety officers in place for required all training and shooting events. Responsible for overall range safety for TXSSC.
Construction Manager
Plan, direct, coordinate, or budget, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation.
Determine labor requirements and dispatch
workers to construction sites.
Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety
codes, and other regulations.
Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers,
and clients, representing the owner or developer.
Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual
agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
Direct and supervise workers.
Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the
project, such as
Requisition supplies and materials to complete
construction projects.
Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.
Develop and implement quality control programs.
Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at
construction site.
Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals
to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and
construction problems.
Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and
maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that
proper procedures are being carried out.
Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans, using
computers.
Web Communications Manager
Create, develop and manage content for organization’s web presence
Coordinate web projects across departments
Maintain a consistent look and feel throughout all web properties
Working with a cross-departmental team, maintain and develop the master content calendar for all web properties
Copyedit and proofread all web content
Assure web-based information is archived for future needs and reference
Track and report on all site metrics
Work cooperatively with key managers, team members, clients and vendors to ensure their Web content requirements are met
Youth Program manager
The focus of all shooting sports programs in the development of youth as individuals and as responsible and productive citizens. Responsible
for teaching Youth marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms, the principles of hunting and archery, and much more. The
activities of the program and the support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills, self-worth, and
conservation ethics.

Archery Leader
Provide coordination of all disciplines pertaining to archery by working with the Education and Training Manager to schedule all shooting events, range times and training as required.
Shotgun Sports Leader
